The County Council is the Strategic Commissioner of Education Provision in Kent and has a duty to ensure that sufficient school places are available to meet demand. The Commissioning Plan for Education Provision in Kent sets out Kent’s commissioning intentions and is revised annually. The 2016-20 edition was approved by full Cabinet in March 2016. The Plan forecasts an increase in the demand for primary school places across Gravesham South West from September 2018.
The local authority is therefore looking to commission additional school places at the Saint George’s Church of England School, by of extending the age range to add two forms of entry, creating a new Year R PAN of 60. This proposal will add 30 Year R places from September 2018, increasing over subsequent years, taking the eventual total primary capacity of the school to 420.
The consultation period will take place from 18 October to 28 November 2016. Following the consultation, the full governing body will consider all views expressed and then make a decision on how to proceed.
