Update - 19 February 2016:
The consultation period has now closed. The Academy Trust will consider all views and then consider referring the proposals to the Secretary of State for Education to make the final decision.
The proposal to expand South Borough PS was also discussed at the Education and Young People’s Cabinet Committee on 21 January 2016. The Cabinet Committee endorsed the recommendation to allocate monies to fund the expansion of the school.
Following this recommendation the Cabinet Member for Education and Health Reform took the decision to release the funding, subject to planning permission being granted.

The Swale Academies Trust, in collaboration with Kent County Council have commenced a consultation on a proposal to permanently increase the capacity of South Borough Primary School from 210 places expanding incrementally from September 2017 to a total of 420 places in September 2023. The published admission number (PAN) for the school would increase from 30 to 60 from September 2017.
The consultation period will take place from 11th January 2016 – 8th February 2016. Following the consultation, the Academy Trust will consider all views express by stakeholders and then make a decision on how to proceed.
If the Academy Trust agrees to continue with the expansion, then approval will be sought from the Secretary of State.

An information drop-in session will be held at the school on 28 January 2016 from 4.30 – 6.00 where there will also be an opportunity to view some initial concept designs.
