Update - 25 April 2016:
Following a period of public consultation the Cabinet Member for Education and Health Reform took the decision on 23rd February 2016 to issue a Public Notice to close Pent Valley Technology College. The closing date for comments, opinions or responses to this Public Notice ended on 14 April 2016.
The Cabinet Member for Education and Health Reform has considered the responses received, and has confirmed that his previous decision of 23 February 2016 would stand. Therefore, Pent Valley Technology College will close to all pupils on 31 August 2016, except those in Years 10 who will remain to complete their GCSE studies in 2016/17, and those in Years 12 and 13 who will complete the second year of their two year course in 2016/17.

Mr. Roger Gough, Cabinet Member for Education and Health Reform, considered the responses to the consultation and agreed that a public notice should be issued. Kent County Council’s Scrutiny Committee reviewed the decision to close Pent Valley Technology College on Tuesday 8 March 2016 and decided to make ‘No Comment’. Therefore the public notice, published in the Folkestone Hythe Express on Wednesday 16 March 2016 can be found below, together with the complete proposal. The closing date for sending in written responses supporting, objecting or commenting on the proposal is 14 April 2016. Kent County Council would like to hear your views on a proposal to close Pent Valley Technology College. It is proposed that the school closes for current Years 7, 8, 9, 11 and 12 from 31 August 2016 and that the current Year 10 pupils remain on site until July 2017 to complete their GCSE studies. It is proposed that Pent Valley Technology College closes permanently from 31 August 2017.
The consultation period runs from 06 January to 03 February 2016. A public meeting to discuss the proposal will be held on Monday 18 January, 7pm-9pm at Pent Valley Technology College, Surrenden Road, Folkestone, CT19 4ED.
