Why are we consulting?

The Kent and Medway Safeguarding Adults Board (KMSAB) works to make sure that all agencies are working together to help keep Kent and Medway's adults safe from harm and to protect the rights of citizens under the Mental Capacity Act. The enactment and implementation of the Care Act 2014, placed Safeguarding Adults Boards on a statutory basis from April 2015.

In line with the Care Act 2014, the Kent and Medway Safeguarding Adults Board (KMSAB) is required to publish a Strategic Plan each financial year. Before we approve this plan, we want to hear your views.

What work have we done so far?

A small working group was convened to develop the three year draft Strategic Plan. Members of the group included representatives from:

  • Kent County Council
  • Medway Council
  • Health Provider
  • Health Commissioner
  • Police

A pre-engagement consultation process took place in July/August 2015. The draft Strategic Plan was circulated to members of the KMSAB and all Working Groups which sit underneath the Board. Comments received were analysed and reflected in the draft document.
