Update August 2018

Thank you to everyone who took part in the Princes Road, Dartford (A296) Proposed Cycle Path consultation.

Feedback from the consultation has been considered by officers at Kent County Council and Dartford Borough Council, and has been used to inform the finalisation of the proposal.

The decision made is to proceed and implementation is now being planned. The scheme build is likely to start in Spring 2019 and we will continue to liaise with all local businesses and residents to ensure that construction minimises any disruption.

The Consultation Report is available to download from the ‘Summary of Results’ section below.

Introduction

Kent County Council (KCC) is proposing to create a 900m shared use pedestrian and cycle path along the section of Princes Road to the East of M25 Junction 1b.

This would be constructed through widening the existing northern footway between the Princes Road Interchange Roundabout and the Peanut Roundabout. This has been identified as a suitable route because the existing cycle route (that forms part of National Cycle Route 1) takes a continuous path around the housing estate to the south of Princes Road. Therefore, the new path will provide a more direct route for cyclists travelling in the area.

KCC has secured funding from the Local Growth Fund, allocated by the South East Local Enterprise Partnership, towards Integrated Door-to-Door Services in Kent Thameside for this project. In addition, a Section 106 funding contribution is also available.

The consultation leaflet provides further information on the proposals.

We have also published a copy of our draft Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA) for you to read.
