Introduction

Kent County Council is proposing to make improvements for pedestrians on part of Highsted Road, Sittingbourne.  This will improve access for pedestrians, notably to Highsted Grammar School and Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital.

At present, there is no footway along the road between its junctions with Farm Crescent and Swanstree Avenue.  This means that pedestrians must either take a much longer route via Brenchley Road and Bell Road, the Rectory Road estate or walk in the carriageway on Highsted Road itself.
