Update May 2019

A Consultation Report providing a summary of the feedback received is now available from the Summary of Results section below. The design team have carefully considered this feedback and are in the process of finalising the scheme design.

The revised design, EqIA and consultation feedback will be presented for consideration to KCC’s Head of Transportation before final sign off.  When the detailed design is complete it will be available on this page, together with details of when construction is likely to start.  A Start of Works Notice will be published to inform members of the public of when and how the project will proceed (when construction will start).

Original Consultation Text

Introduction

The south eastern footway along London Road (between Somner Close and Rheims Way) has become a significant issue for pedestrians due to the impact of the large London Plain trees which have narrowed the footway and lifted it making the surface very uneven.

This is a problem for a range of people including those with wheelchairs or mobility scooters, people with vision or mobility impairments or pushchair/pram users.

Kent County Council (KCC) have considered a number of options to resolve this issue. The consultation leaflet provides more information on the proposed scheme. You can also view the scheme plan (please zoom in to view labels).

We have also published a copy of our Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA) for you to read.

All documents can be downloaded from the Consultation Documents section below and are available in hard copy on request.
